But all the silver, gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are holy to Yahweh. They shall come into Yahweh’s treasury.”

What does Joshua 6:19 mean?

When the Israelites conquered Jericho, God had commanded them to destroy almost everything in the city, but the precious metals and bronze and iron vessels were set apart as "holy"—meaning they belonged to God alone, not to individual soldiers as plunder. This wasn't about God needing wealth; it was about recognizing that victory came from God, not from human strength or strategy. By dedicating the valuable items to God's treasury, the people were practicing trust and obedience, acknowledging that their success was a gift to be honored, not a prize to be claimed. It's a reminder that when we experience blessing or breakthrough, we're invited to remember where it truly comes from.
