What does Joshua 5:1 mean?
When the surrounding kings heard that God had miraculously stopped the Jordan River so the Israelites could cross over, they were gripped by fear so complete that their courage simply evaporated. The phrase "their heart melted" describes not just worry, but a kind of spiritual collapse, where the will to resist drained away entirely. This verse shows how God's power working on behalf of his people can break opposition before a single battle is fought.
