Joshua 4:14
“On that day, Yahweh magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.”
What does Joshua 4:14 mean?
When the people of Israel watched Joshua lead them across the Jordan River on dry ground, they understood that God's power was working through him just as it had through Moses. This moment of witnessing God's faithfulness gave them confidence in Joshua's leadership during an uncertain time of transition. The fear they felt wasn't about being afraid of Joshua as a person, but rather a deep respect and reverence born from seeing divine authority at work.
