Joshua 24:23
““Now therefore put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to Yahweh, the God of Israel.””
What does Joshua 24:23 mean?
Joshua is calling the Israelites to make a clean break with the gods of surrounding nations and commit themselves fully to following the God who has guided them. The "foreign gods" weren't necessarily statues sitting in the corner—they represented divided loyalties, the pull of other worldviews and values that competed with trust in God. When Joshua urges them to "incline your heart," he's asking for more than outward obedience; he's asking where their deepest allegiance actually lies.
