Joshua 24:17
“for it is Yahweh our God who brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and who did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way in which we went, and among all the peoples through the middle of whom we passed.”
What does Joshua 24:17 mean?
Joshua is reminding the Israelites of their whole story, from slavery to freedom to safe passage through hostile territory. He's essentially saying, "Look back at everything God has done for you and your ancestors, the impossible things that freed you, the daily protection that kept you alive." It's a moment meant to stir gratitude and trust before asking them to commit to following God going forward.
