What does Joshua 22:9 mean?
After the conquest of Canaan was complete, the two and a half tribes whose land lay east of the Jordan River were finally released to go home. Moses had given them permission years earlier to settle in Gilead, but only on the condition that they first help their brothers secure the land west of the Jordan, and they had faithfully kept that promise.
