Joshua 21:20

The families of the children of Kohath, the Levites, even the rest of the children of Kohath, had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.

What does Joshua 21:20 mean?

After Israel conquered the land, the Levites (who served as priests and temple workers) needed places to live, so cities were set apart for them throughout the different tribal territories. The Kohathites were one branch of the Levites, and this verse simply records that some of them received their assigned cities from the territory of Ephraim. It's part of a longer chapter documenting the fair distribution of land, showing that God's plan included making sure everyone had a place to belong and a means to live.
