Joshua 19:50

According to Yahweh’s commandment, they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in the hill country of Ephraim; and he built the city, and lived there.

What does Joshua 19:50 mean?

Joshua gets to choose his own inheritance from the conquered land, and he picks Timnathserah, a modest city in the hill country. This wasn't a grab for power or wealth, but a simple place where he could settle and build a home like anyone else. After spending his entire adult life leading Israel through warfare and wilderness, Joshua gets to step back into ordinary life. The fact that he built and lived there himself shows he wasn't just claiming land from a distance, but genuinely putting down roots in the community he'd fought for.
