What does Joshua 18:11 mean?

Benjamin's territory was positioned in a narrow strip of land sandwiched between the more powerful tribes of Judah to the south and Joseph's descendants (Ephraim and Manasseh) to the north. This wasn't a disadvantage but rather a strategic location, as Benjamin would later serve as a buffer and bridge between these major tribal powers. The casting of lots was how Israel determined land distribution, reflecting the belief that God was directing the outcome rather than human politics or favoritism. For a smaller tribe without the numbers or resources of its neighbors, having a defined, secure place in the community mattered deeply, and this verse shows God honored that need.
