What does Joshua 13:22 mean?
Balaam was a foreign prophet and diviner hired by an enemy king to curse Israel, but God turned his words into blessings instead. When the Israelites conquered the land of Midian, they executed him along with other enemies of the nation. His death marks the end of someone who, despite witnessing God's power, ultimately stood against God's purposes and the people he had called. This moment reminds us that knowing about God's power isn't the same as truly following him. Balaam saw miracles and spoke truth when God compelled him to, yet his heart remained divided between God's will and earthly reward. Sometimes the harshest consequences come not from outright rejection, but from straddling two worlds and serving competing loyalties.
