Joshua 13:2
““This is the land that still remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites;”
What does Joshua 13:2 mean?
At this point in Joshua's life, he's an older man receiving instructions about territory that hasn't yet been conquered, even though the major battles are won. God is essentially telling him, "There's still work to do, and here's what needs to happen next." The Philistines and Geshurites occupied coastal and border regions that remained unconquered during Joshua's military campaigns. This verse reminds us that completing God's purposes often takes longer than we expect and requires persistence across generations. It's honest about unfinished business, which can feel discouraging at first, but it's also a call to keep moving forward with what's been given to you. Sometimes our role isn't to finish everything, but to do our part faithfully and trust that God's plan continues beyond what we can accomplish alone.
