What does Joshua 13:18 mean?

This is simply a list of three towns that were assigned to the tribe of Reuben in the land east of the Jordan River. These were real places with strategic importance, and knowing their names helped the Israelites understand the boundaries and inheritance of each tribe as they settled the Promised Land. While the names might feel distant to us today, they mattered deeply to the people who lived there and called them home. Sometimes Scripture includes these details to show that God's promises extended to specific, actual places and real communities, not just spiritual abstractions.
