What does Jonah 2:1 mean?

After being thrown into the sea and swallowed by a great fish, Jonah found himself in darkness and danger, yet he turned toward God rather than away. This moment shows us that prayer isn't reserved for comfortable circumstances or moments when we feel spiritually ready, but rather it meets us exactly where we are, even in the most desperate and unlikely places. Jonah's prayer from inside the fish reveals that God doesn't abandon us when we hit rock bottom, and that reaching out to him in crisis is always possible, no matter how far we think we've fallen. Sometimes our hardest moments become the most honest ones with God.
