What does Jonah 1:16 mean?
The sailors on Jonah's ship had just witnessed something extraordinary: God had calmed a raging storm the moment they threw Jonah overboard. In that moment, they recognized they'd encountered genuine divine power, and their fear shifted from terror to reverence. Their response was natural for people in that time and culture—they turned to worship and made commitments to serve this God they'd just discovered.
