What does John 9:18 mean?
The religious leaders in Jerusalem couldn't wrap their heads around what had happened. A man born blind had been healed by Jesus, and instead of celebrating, they were skeptical and argumentative. They needed proof, so they summoned the man's parents to verify the story, hoping to find some flaw in the account or catch someone in a lie. This moment reveals how fear and rigid thinking can block people from recognizing something miraculous right in front of them. The leaders were so committed to their doubts about Jesus that they treated an obvious blessing as a problem to be investigated rather than a gift to be received. Sometimes the hardest thing to see is what challenges what we've already decided to believe.
