John 8:37
“I know that you are Abraham’s offspring, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.”
What does John 8:37 mean?
Jesus is speaking to people who take pride in being descendants of Abraham, thinking that lineage alone makes them right with God. But he's pointing out a hard truth: knowing the right family history means nothing if your heart actively resists his message. When he says his word "finds no place" in them, he means they've closed themselves off, choosing instead to plot against him rather than let his teaching take root. It's a gentle but devastating observation that being born into the right tradition doesn't protect us from hardening our hearts against truth.
