What does John 5:4 mean?
This verse describes a belief that existed in Jesus's time about the pool of Bethesda, a healing site in Jerusalem where sick people gathered. According to the understanding of people then, an angel would periodically stir the water, and whoever managed to get into the pool first would be healed of their illness. It's worth knowing that most ancient manuscripts don't actually include this verse, which is why many modern Bible translations omit it or mark it as questionable.
