John 5:25
“Most certainly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live.”
What does John 5:25 mean?
Jesus is speaking about a spiritual awakening that's both future and already happening. When he says "the hour comes, and now is," he means that while a final resurrection is still to come, something transformative is occurring right now: people who feel spiritually dead, hopeless, or lost can hear Jesus's voice and come alive through faith. Those who listen to him, who believe and respond to what he's saying, experience new life not just in eternity but in this present moment. It's an invitation wrapped in a promise, suggesting that spiritual resurrection isn't something we have to wait for, but something available to us today.
