“but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.”
What does John 20:31 mean?
John wrote his entire gospel with a specific goal in mind: to help you come to faith in who Jesus really is. He's saying that every story, every miracle, every conversation he recorded was carefully chosen so that as you read, something shifts in your heart toward believing Jesus is God's Son, the promised Messiah. But notice the second part, it's not just about belief as an idea you agree with. John connects believing with actually having life, real and abundant life, through a relationship with Jesus. He's inviting you into something that transforms you, not just convinces you intellectually. Whatever season you're walking through, that invitation to abundant life through Jesus remains open to you.
