What does John 2:4 mean?
Mary has just told Jesus that the wedding has run out of wine, and his response might sound harsh to modern ears, but it carries a different weight in context. He's not rejecting his mother's concern so much as gently pointing out that he operates on God's timeline, not on human urgency or expectation, even from those closest to him.
