What does John 2:22 mean?

After Jesus rose from the dead, his followers finally understood what he'd been telling them all along, and it changed everything about how they read their Scriptures and trusted his words. It's a very human moment, really, the kind of clarity that sometimes only comes after we've lived through something difficult. The disciples had heard Jesus predict his death and resurrection, but they couldn't fully grasp it until it actually happened. Then, looking back at the Old Testament passages about the Messiah and the promises God had made, the pieces suddenly fit together in a way that transformed their faith from confusion into conviction.
