What does John 2:11 mean?
When Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding in the small town of Cana, it was far more than a practical miracle. The Gospel writer is telling us that this moment revealed who Jesus truly is, and it had a profound effect on those closest to him. His disciples, who had just begun following him, witnessed something that deepened their trust and confidence in him. What makes this significant is that it's called the "beginning" of his signs. Jesus wasn't showing off or proving a point out of pride. Instead, he was gently unveiling his divine nature through acts of compassion. In this case, he saved a family from public embarrassment at their wedding by meeting an urgent need. That combination of power and care for ordinary people's struggles is what moved his disciples to believe more fully.
