What does John 18:2 mean?
Judas had spent enough time with Jesus to know his regular habits and favorite gathering spots, which made him the perfect person to lead the authorities to him quietly. This simple detail reveals how deeply Jesus had trusted Judas, meeting openly and repeatedly in the same garden (Gethsemane) without trying to hide or constantly change locations. The tragedy is that this very familiarity, this routine of gathering in the same place for prayer and fellowship, became the setup for betrayal. It shows us that access and knowledge of someone's life doesn't guarantee faithfulness, and sometimes the people closest to us know exactly where and how to hurt us.
