John 17:7
βNow they have known that all things whatever you have given me are from you,β
What does John 17:7 mean?
Jesus is reflecting on what his disciples have finally grasped during their time with him. He's saying that they've come to understand that everything he has, everything he can do, everything he offers them, ultimately comes from God the Father, not from himself. It's a moment of recognition that Jesus isn't operating independently or selfishly, but as someone completely dependent on and aligned with God's purposes. This matters deeply because it shows Jesus validating his disciples' dawning faith, not in Jesus as a solo figure, but in Jesus as the one sent by God to reveal the Father's character and generosity to the world.
