What does John 17:26 mean?

Jesus is speaking to his Father near the end of his life, reflecting on his mission and his deepest desire for those who follow him. He's saying that he has revealed who God truly is to his disciples, and he will continue that work through his Spirit even after he returns to heaven. What matters most to Jesus isn't just that people know *about* God, but that they experience the same kind of love that exists between Jesus and his Father, and that they remain connected to Jesus himself. It's a prayer expressing his hope that believers will be drawn into the intimate, loving relationship that defines God's nature, not as distant observers but as beloved participants.
