John 16:15
“All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.”
What does John 16:15 mean?
Jesus is describing the complete unity between himself and God the Father, and what that means for his followers. Everything the Father possesses—all power, knowledge, and authority—belongs equally to Jesus, so there's no separation between them in what they have or who they are. Because of this unity, Jesus explains that the Holy Spirit (the "he" in this verse) draws from both what Jesus has and what the Father has, then communicates those treasures to us. It's a beautiful promise that God doesn't hold back from revealing himself and his truth to those who follow him, and that we're invited into an intimate knowledge of the divine nature through the Spirit's work in our lives.
