John 15:24
“If I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father.”
What does John 15:24 mean?
Jesus is saying that his miracles and teachings were so clear and undeniable that people couldn't claim ignorance about who he was or what God was like. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and taught with authority no one had seen before, yet many people still rejected him anyway. That rejection, Jesus is saying, goes beyond mere disagreement, it's a choosing against what they've directly witnessed. It's a hard truth: when we see goodness and truth clearly displayed and turn away from it, we bear responsibility for that choice in a way we wouldn't if we'd never encountered it at all. This isn't meant to condemn us for honest doubt, but rather to acknowledge that there's a difference between questioning and outright rejection of what we've genuinely seen.
