John 14:13
“Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
What does John 14:13 mean?
Jesus promises here that prayers offered in his name will be answered, with a beautiful purpose attached: that God the Father will be honored through the Son. When we pray "in Jesus' name," we're not using a magic formula, but rather aligning our requests with who Jesus is and what he cares about, asking with his heart and character shaping what we ask for. This means praying for things that reflect his love, justice, and kingdom—not just our own comfort. The promise isn't a blank check for whatever we want, but an invitation to ask boldly for things that would bring glory to God, trusting that Jesus himself will see them through.
