What does John 13:5 mean?
Jesus took on the work of a servant, doing something that was considered beneath the dignity of a teacher or leader in that culture. By washing his disciples' feet, the dusty, dirty task that only household servants would normally do, he was showing them what real love looks like: humble, hands-on, and willing to serve others without pride. This act was meant to reshape how they understood power and leadership, teaching them that greatness in God's kingdom comes through serving, not through being served.
