John 13:1
“Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus, knowing that his time had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.”
What does John 13:1 mean?
On the night before his arrest, Jesus was fully aware of what awaited him, yet his focus wasn't on his own suffering but on the people he loved. "To the end" means both until the final moment of his life and with a completeness that held nothing back. Even facing betrayal and death, Jesus showed his disciples that love doesn't abandon people when things get hard or when we're hurting ourselves. This verse invites us to see that the deepest kind of love persists through difficulty and doesn't depend on easy circumstances.
