What does John 12:13 mean?
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, crowds lined the streets with palm branches, a gesture of celebration and honor reserved for kings and heroes. Their shouts of "Hosanna" meant "save us," expressing both joy at his arrival and a deeper hope that he was the one who would rescue them. By calling him "the King of Israel," they were declaring publicly what many believed in their hearts, even as they didn't yet understand what his kingdom would truly look like or what it would cost him to establish it.
