What does John 11:52 mean?
This verse is part of John's account of Jesus's death and what it would accomplish. The high priest Caiaphas has just (ironically, without fully understanding) prophesied that Jesus will die for the nation, and John expands on that statement here to show something even larger at work. Jesus's sacrifice wasn't just for the Jewish people, but for God's children everywhere, scattered across different lands and backgrounds, to be brought together as one family. There's real comfort in this for anyone who feels isolated or far from home. Jesus came to gather, to unite, to make a family out of those who might feel scattered and alone.
