What does John 1:34 mean?

John the Baptist speaks these words after witnessing the Holy Spirit descend on Jesus at his baptism, and he's declaring what that experience proved to him. He's not making an educated guess or repeating what others told him, but rather bearing witness to something he personally saw and understood. When he calls Jesus "the Son of God," he's identifying Jesus as the one he'd been preparing people to expect, the one whose arrival his entire ministry pointed toward. For anyone reading this, it's an invitation to consider: what does it mean to testify about what you've actually witnessed or experienced of God's work in your own life?
