Job 41:6
“Will traders barter for him? Will they part him among the merchants?”
What does Job 41:6 mean?
This passage comes near the end of Job, where God is describing Leviathan, a massive and fearsome sea creature, to show Job the limits of human power and control. God is essentially asking: can anyone buy and sell this creature like ordinary merchandise? Can merchants divide it up and trade it like goods in the marketplace? The point is that some things in creation are simply beyond human commerce and domination. We can't reduce everything to a transaction or commodity. For readers facing hardship, there's comfort here: not everything is subject to human schemes and dealing. Some things remain wild, powerful, and outside our ability to control or profit from, which can be oddly reassuring when life feels chaotic.
