What does Job 41:20 mean?

This vivid image describes Leviathan, a mighty sea creature that Job's friends use to show him how vast and powerful God's creation is. The smoke pouring from its nostrils paints a picture of something so fierce and alive that it seems almost supernatural, like a furnace burning at full intensity. Job is being reminded that if God can create and sustain such an enormous, untamable being, then God's wisdom and control extend far beyond what Job can see or understand from his own suffering. It's a way of saying: you think your troubles are everything, but look at the scale of what exists in this world that you never even knew about.
