God is describing the hippopotamus here, a massive creature so powerful and alert that catching it would be nearly impossible, even with traps and weapons designed for that purpose. The "nose with a snare" is a vivid image of how thoroughly defended this animal is, suggesting that even the most vulnerable entry point cannot be breached by human effort alone. In the context of Job's suffering, God seems to be making a point about the limits of human control and understanding.
