Job 40:20
“Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.”
What does Job 40:20 mean?
In this passage, God is describing Behemoth, a massive creature of immense strength and appetite, to remind Job how vast and wild creation truly is. The point isn't really about mountains literally producing food, but rather that this enormous being has everything it needs to sustain itself within God's created order, and all the other animals coexist alongside it in their natural habitats. God is essentially saying: look at how much provision exists in the world I've made, and look at how many creatures thrive within it. If you can't fully understand or control something as magnificent as this creature, how can you expect to understand everything about how I run the universe? There's a humbling invitation here for Job (and for us) to recognize both God's abundance and the limits of our own perspective.
