Job 39:4
“Their young ones become strong. They grow up in the open field. They go out, and don’t return again.”
What does Job 39:4 mean?
God is describing wild donkeys here, and he's painting a picture of complete independence and flourishing. The young animals grow strong without anyone tending them, thrive in open space rather than enclosures, and eventually leave to live fully on their own terms. It's part of God's longer speech to Job, where he's pointing out all the wild creatures he sustains and cares for—none of them dependent on human control or approval, yet all of them thriving under his watch. For someone suffering like Job was, this was meant to be comforting: God's care isn't limited to what we can see or manage. He provides for what's free and untamed too.
