What does Job 39:2 mean?

God is asking Job whether he understands the hidden workings of nature, specifically how animals know their own seasons and timing for birth. Job has been demanding answers from God about his suffering, so the Lord responds by pointing to all the mysteries Job cannot control or even comprehend in the natural world around him. The question invites Job to recognize his own limitations. We can observe that animals give birth, but we don't fully know what drives their instincts or how they sense the right moment. It's a gentle way of saying: if you can't explain these everyday miracles, how can you expect to understand the deeper purposes behind your own pain? The passage reminds us that there is profound wisdom operating in creation that lies beyond our understanding, and sometimes that's enough to trust with.
