“Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies, but the wind passes, and clears them.”
What does Job 37:21 mean?
When storms roll through and clouds darken the sky, it feels like the light has vanished entirely. But after the wind clears those clouds away, the brightness returns, brilliant and undeniable. Elihu, who speaks these words near the end of Job's story, is using a simple observation from nature to point toward something deeper: God's power and presence are real and constant, even when we can't see them clearly. Just as the hidden sun doesn't stop existing behind the clouds, God doesn't disappear when our circumstances make life feel dark and confusing. Sometimes we need the wind of time, circumstance, or perspective to sweep things clear so we can perceive what was there all along.
