Job 34:25
“Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.”
What does Job 34:25 mean?
Elihu is reminding Job that God sees everything people do, and nothing escapes divine notice. He's saying that when people do wrong, God doesn't ignore it or let it slide indefinitely, but actively brings those deeds to light and brings justice, sometimes swiftly and unexpectedly (the "night" representing sudden judgment). The verse offers both a warning and a comfort depending on where you stand. If you're worried that your wrongs go unnoticed, or that injustice wins the day, Elihu insists that isn't how the world actually works. God's awareness is constant and complete. At the same time, if you've been hurt by others, this speaks to the reality that wrongdoing doesn't have the final word, even when earthly consequences aren't immediately visible.
