Job 31:15

Didn’t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn’t one fashion us in the womb?

What does Job 31:15 mean?

Job is reminding himself (and us) that every person, regardless of their status or background, was formed by God with equal care and dignity. He's pushing back against the idea that he could mistreat those beneath him socially or economically, because they share the same Creator and the same sacred origin story. This is a profound statement about human equality that cuts through the social hierarchies of his time, and it still speaks powerfully to how we should treat one another today. When we remember that God formed each person with intention and love, it becomes much harder to dismiss or harm anyone.
