What does Job 3:15 mean?
Job is describing what he wished he could have experienced instead of his suffering. He's saying he would have preferred to die in the womb or as a stillborn child, so that he might have been buried alongside wealthy princes in their ornate tombs, surrounded by riches. This comes early in Job's anguish, when he's so overwhelmed by pain and loss that he's expressing a desperate longing for death itself. The mention of gold and silver isn't really about greed, but about the finality and rest that came even to the richest people, he thinks. It's a raw moment of someone in despair, grasping at any alternative to what he's experiencing.
