Job 25:6
“How much less man, who is a worm, the son of man, who is a worm!””
What does Job 25:6 mean?
Job's friend Bildad is reminding Job that human beings are insignificant compared to God's vastness and holiness. The repetition of "worm" hammers home how small and fragile we are in the cosmic order of things. This comes near the end of their debate, when Bildad is essentially saying: "If the heavens themselves aren't pure before God, how could you possibly expect to be?" It's meant as a humbling rebuke, though like much of what Job's friends say, it misses the deeper point of Job's suffering and his right to wrestle with God about it.
