What does Job 22:10 mean?
Eliphaz is speaking to Job in anger, accusing him of hidden sins and suggesting that his suffering is punishment he deserves. In this moment, Eliphaz claims that Job's troubles are traps of his own making, consequences closing in on someone who has done wrong. What's hard about these words is that they assume Job is guilty when he isn't, at least not in the way Eliphaz believes. Many of us know this experience too: we suffer, and people around us rush to explain it as something we caused, something we deserve.
