What does Job 13:2 mean?

Job is speaking here to his friends who have come to comfort him in his suffering, and he's reaching the limits of his patience with their advice. He's saying, essentially, "I'm not ignorant of these things you're telling meβ€”I've thought about them myself, and I'm just as capable of understanding as you are." There's a note of frustration in his words, because his friends keep offering explanations for why he's suffering as though he hasn't already considered them. What makes this moment poignant is that Job isn't rejecting wisdom itself, but rather insisting that his pain and confusion are valid even though he understands theology. Sometimes the people closest to us need to hear that we know what they're trying to say, but knowing it doesn't take away what we're feeling.
