Job 13:10
βHe will surely reprove you, if you secretly show partiality.β
What does Job 13:10 mean?
Job is speaking to his friends who have come to comfort him, and he's pointing out something sharp: they're favoring God in this conversation in a way that isn't honest. He's saying that if they continue to hide behind flattery toward the Almighty while dismissing his real pain, God himself will call them out for it. The rebuke isn't about being respectful to God, but about being truthful. Job is asking his friends to drop the pious act and actually engage with what he's experiencing, rather than simply defending God's reputation at the expense of his suffering. There's something almost protective here, as if Job is warning them: God doesn't need your false loyalty, and he won't appreciate it.
