Jeremiah 8:4

What does Jeremiah 8:4 mean?
God is asking Jeremiah to pose a question that cuts to the heart of human nature and hope. When someone falls down or stumbles, they naturally get back up again, right? When someone takes a wrong turn or wanders off the path, they eventually come back, don't they? God's point is that his people have abandoned him in a way that violates even basic human instinct—they've fallen into sin and refuse to rise, they've turned away and won't return.
