Jeremiah 6:9
“Yahweh of Armies says, “They will thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel like a vine. Turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.””
What does Jeremiah 6:9 mean?
God is describing judgment through an image of harvesting, where Israel will be stripped bare like a vineyard picked completely clean. The "remnant" refers to whoever might be left standing after disaster, and even they won't escape, but will be gathered up as thoroughly as a grape picker collects fruit. It's a sobering picture of how complete the consequences will be for turning away from God. Yet embedded in this difficult message is something that might offer a glimmer of hope to those listening, because a remnant exists at all, and what's gathered can potentially be restored or renewed in God's hands.
