Jeremiah 6:27
ββI have made you a tester of metals and a fortress among my people, that you may know and try their way.β
What does Jeremiah 6:27 mean?
God is telling Jeremiah that he's been given a special role: to examine his people's hearts and actions the way a metalworker tests ore to find what's pure and what's worthless. This is both a calling and a burden, because Jeremiah will have to witness and speak truth about the spiritual condition of Judah, even when that truth is painful. The "fortress" part means Jeremiah himself needs to be strong and unshakeable, standing firm in his message while surrounded by people who won't want to hear it. In other words, God is saying, "I'm asking you to see clearly what's really going on with my people, to stand strong in that truth, and to speak it even though it will be hard."
